This is very touching to me because for many years I have done behind the scene work with the Startkey Foundation! Worldwide we have about 360 Million people that have some kind of hearing disability! This is one of three charities I am involve with and the one that I am most passionate about because of my ability to hear when I KNOW that so many cannot! As a musician I totally rely on it so i am eternally grateful and humbled to serve these beautiful people! It tears me up whenever I put in a hearing aid into a kids ear because to experience their reaction from NEVER hearing before is just ..... much beyond MAGICAL is the only word I can find to express what I thought went through their ears, hearts and minds! The Starkey Foundation started way back in 1967 and has evolved a lot from the first CE-1 Custom in ear hearing aid to the 2014 iPhone/iPad new line! They are made to stream video, music and for the user to make and receive clear phone calls in high quality pristine quality, compared to the first ones made in 73! Which I am sure the hearing impaired end user was still super grateful and happy to have experienced the rapid growing technology! Yes I know this is a long post but I feel its a necessary one. One that I have never shared with anyone not even my beloved family. My first experience with this extraordinary Starkey Hearing Foundation was when I went down to Buenos Aires Argentina, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia in Brazil back in 1994. That connection with the children, the experience and the knowledge I got from the leaders down there was transformational. That experience has kept plugged into the organization to this day though I would like to do more as I am getting older :) It really impacted me with a sense of purpose and joy with a feeling of belonging. We are living in some serious but interesting times and its one of the reasons why I have shifted my focus to do a balancing act between the music, which I believe is still one of, if not the biggest healer and cleanser to the masses. I also believe that the internet can be a good and bad place based on whos on it! To me the internet is a place of infinite resources for those of us that knows how to access and harness it! I will earn my fair share with the knowledge I have acquired over the years of online entrepreneurship! Thats just the means to the big picture of doing and giving more where its needed. This Charity is one where I have put my time money and my mouth behind it and will continue to do so over the years to come. I see both my music and being an online entrepreneur will allow me and hopefully with the support of all of you the the number of the hearing impaired will drastically go down from that 360 Million figure!
