This is video shows how they talked about the Iraq war in May - TopicsExpress

This is video shows how they talked about the Iraq war in May 2003. Republicans talked about it in the PAST TENSE and insisted that we had WON. Bush gave his Mission Accomplished speech on May 1, 2003. On Tuesday May 6th I went and had coffee at a local restaurant where local politically-minded people would gather and talk and debate. On that day I insisted that the war was far from over. I insisted that we had entered a quagmire that would keep us occupied for years. That many would die and we would regret our stupidity. I and the one person who agreed with me were branded as traitors. How do I remember this so well? I wrote all about it in my notebook later that day. But it was not the notebook I had at the restaurant. That notebook, along with my backpack, disappeared when I went to the restroom. I later found some of its contents scattered on Canal Street. My favorite Bible was shredded (I still have the cover and some pieces). And I think most of the stuff ended up in the canal. Ah, Patriotism. But this video shows the essence of their hubris and their faulty logic. While they were declaring the war over it was just beginning. This same hubris and lack of intellectual acuity pushed us headlong into the worst economic crisis in two generations. A crisis we may fully recover from in the next decade (may, I am not optimistic). These are the very same people who think anything they say pertaining to the Middle East or the economy today should be taken seriously. Here is (often wrong) economist Thomas Friedman spouting what they all believed and said. Remember, they were ALL WRONG.
