This is what Danie Beer has to say about this and its exactly how I feel too, Ive watched people going on about this photo and spreading it, a matter they know nothing about, and theyre doing it based on their emotions, which are out of context here. Thanks Danie: So this has gone viral in the last day or two and is popping up all over the place. At first I wanted to ignore it, but I just cant anymore... I love how people with some public influence can be so blatantly judgemental over something that they clearly know nothing about! Who are you to judge someone elses lifestyle and preferences? This again proves to me exactly whats wrong with the world. For those that dont know, I am a hunter and a proud one at that. I am also a conservationist at heart. So let me spell it out for you guys. Hunting IS conservation! Without hunting, as the animal rights activists would prefer it, we will have entire Ecological systems fail. As has happened in Botswana when they banned the hunting/culling of Elephants in their national parks. Furthermore, this is happening in our own back yard, the Kruger National Park is at a critical turning point because of the population explosion of the African elephants, TB has infected ALL the Cape Buffalo and consequently the Lion population, leaving us with a declining virility in both populations. Had we been allowed to remove the sick animals it might have been a different story. Dont think this is a natural system, it is still enclosed by a fence and therefore should be managed as such. Animal rights activists are solely responsible for what is happening to the Rhino populations in Africa, as the pressure is coming from them to keep the ban on trade in Rhino horn imposed. Where we could have traded, make millions, push money back into conservation, all but eliminate the black market trade in Rhino horn and so save the species! (Worst of all is this wouldnt even hurt the animals as their horns grow back to full size in 4 years) But NO we should keep the prohibition going. Which in essence has NEVER worked in history! No farmers want rhinos on their farms anymore because its a liability.... think about that, seeing as privately owned land constitutes more than 70% of our conservation area. So where exactly wod we be without our murderous farmers trying to seek out a living, through conservation, by having a few animals shot every year. What kind of farmer would have his most valuable commodity go to waste? None! Sustainable utilization is the name of the game. So please people, think before you open your mouths. Cant ask you not to judge because I know some will judge me for this post.
