This is what Hubby and I are having for dinner tonight, I only had these ingredients, and decided to try something different than chow mein, although that is lovely we have had chow mein twice this week, lol. Slow Cooker Cabbage Mince Rolls Recipe INGREDIENTS 500g Beef Mince (browned) 10 Cabbage Leaves 1/2 cup uncooked white rice, 2 grated carrots (recipe said you can also add quinoa and cauliflower) I never had these. 1 egg beaten 1/4 cup water or stock ( I used beef stock) 1/4 cup minced onion 2 teaspoons minced garlic salt and pepper Sauce : If you like lots of sauce you can double this. 2 cups tomato sauce 2 tablespoons of honey 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1. Brown Mince, (drain) 2. Boil a pot of water and add Cabbage. Cook for 2 min drain. ( You can freeze cabbage then thaw and skip the boiling part. We just need leaves soft enough to roll. ( I boiled my cabbage, next time will try freezing ) 3. Combine rice, egg, liquid onion, garlic, beef, vegies, salt, pepper, and seasonings in a bowl. Place 1/4 cup meat mixture in centre of leaf and roll up like a burrito. Place seam side down in slow cooker. 4. Mix all sauce ingredients together and pour over roll. Cook on low for 8 hours in your SC, or 4 hours on high in your SC. With my calculations a very cheap meal to make. :) Please note. I have never made this recipe before, looks and smells delicious, makes heaps, suppose to serve 10 people. I have some meat mixture left over, and I am going to use it tomorrow for a pasties, or shepherds pie. The recipe is from Melissa K Norris website, and I would like to thank the followers who said earlier to brown the mince first. :) Will let you know when finished what my hubby thinks of this recipe. :)
