This is what I deal with every day...a hyperactive, outgoing, lovable, 10 year old boy....a boy who loves to play soccer and is generally one of the teams star players year after year. But- this highly energetic son of mine seems to distract others in the classroom- mmmm ya think? By looking at these pictures im sure u can all just imagine. I took these pics yesterday of him because he literally could not wait to get onto our dirt road so he could take his seatbelt off and just WIGGLE after I picked him up from school. He wakes up at 6:15am and his day starts with a quick hug and some momma love- then its onto the orders. Brush your teeth. Get your lunch kit to me so I can make your lunch. Comb your hair. Get dressed. Pick up your cereal bowl you forgot on the table. Okay- r u ready- good- now grab your stuff and lets go! Then as I can only imagine - the rest of the next 8 hours are likely filled with more TO DOs and a lot of DONTs! So every year at about this time - (a few weeks into the school year) I get THE PHONE CALL- or in this case the email from one of his teachers. Mrs Anderson we need to have a conference. Your son is having some problems that are affecting his learning and also becoming a distraction to others in the classroom! And so- it begins! I roll my eyes. I say to myself- oh boy! I think to myself...what am I supposed to do about it? I feel like Im a kid in school getting in trouble for the same thing all over again! Year after year at the same school every time. Now this year the email is a little different because the school principal is included as copied in the email I received. Whoooooo-eeee he must be really misbehaving I think. Yeah so- now Im really feeling in trouble! Ughh I hate this! Yep thats how I feel:( People I want to tell u all that what I dont understand is how he can be in such academic distress and causing such distraction but yet his grades year after year are all 83-100 averages. These are not failing grades. I do not see an academically challenged student here...right? So I just dont get it! I feel like hes on the schools blacklist or something! Honestly I dont even want to meet with the teacher. I know he may distract others. I know as teachers they dont feel its their job to discipline my son all day but they tell me that if you would just get him the ADHD diagnosis we will be able to make certain exceptions for him! Well IM NOT! Not getting him diagnosed, not putting him on the medicine. Just not going to happen. Because with every year that passes, he is doing better. He is being more responsible. Doing his homework. Writing all the assignments in his agenda. Etc etc etc. So what is a parent supposed to tell the teachers each year! Oh too bad- just deal with it- NO that doesnt seem fair either! Anyway- I dunno- Im just a tired mom- tired of the same ole phone call and the same ole talk! I wish the schools would just handle things like they used to in the old days or just send him outside more to burn off that energy or something! Geez:( Signed~ Frustrated Mom
