This is what I have thought and voiced about new math for a while now. It is not very new and it teaches why we get the answer that we get not just repetition of memorization. I also like how he says that some parents frustration with new math proves the point of why we need it taught this way. (I have even used this same line in some of my posts) I hope everyone that takes issue with new math watches this with an open mind. It is not as illogical as some think. It is the same math of number placement that the abacus was based upon for 5000 years or more. So it is not really new at all.
