This is what I love about guys like Bill Nye, The late Carl Sagen, Neil DeGrasse, and a whole host of brilliant scientists that also have an astonishing ability to communicate the science and their love for the science they see every day to those of us with only a rudimentary understanding of it. In this video, Bill Nye points out something I never thought of before as far as those that deny evolution and/or posit the earth is only a few thousand years old. These people arent SIMPLIFYING their world view. They are making it INFINITELY more complex to reconcile with what they see around them. I look at a star and have NO problem realizing that according to science, I am looking deep into the past at light arriving after an immensely long journey. I understand that the light I am looking at probably started toward my eyes Millions of years ago. How does someone that denies this very PROVABLE fact reconcile this with a belief that the universe is only 6000 years old? what kind of hideous mental hoops do they have to jam their brains into to make this even remotely feasible? It doesnt make me angry with them , it makes me feel very sorry for them. This is my world changing moment for the day...
