This is what is on my mind....My tomato saga. I planted 2 inch - TopicsExpress

This is what is on my mind....My tomato saga. I planted 2 inch tomatoes after the monsoons we had, probably at the beginning of July. I know, late. But given the circumstances with humidity and mosquitoes I did not want to venture out. My perennials were in perfect bloom and I was distracted. (Those are my excuses). I put organic top soil on, organic fertilizer and planted those embryos and tied them up in their cages...done! Put grass clippings around them and pulled out the leaves of my lilies that were then browned and covered the the ground around my embryos. Also, same scenario with my pepper plants. Right around the corner came the heat wave, almost fried the little darlings! So, I did the right thing and watered them every night. Guess what! Do not laugh, my tomatoes are 4 1/2 ft tall and have blossoms and babies, along with the pepper plants!! So it is mid Sept. and this should have happened a month ago. There has been 90 degree weather in October once or twice, still have time. I refuse to buy a tomato or pepper. You should have seen the watermelon though! Stay tuned....
