This is what we have become, people. We have become a nation, a society, a people, that have disallowed the human element to exist within ourselves. We have formed our society into a mindset which is guided and governed by only two things: 1) The written instruction and policy, and 2) The absolute power of our leaders. We can only go by the list. We must walk the paved path only. We can never vary. We can never think for ourselves, decide for ourselves, work and prosper for ourselves. Yet, when we falter, when we fall, when we fail - it is the very Rule that points the finger at the individual and proclaims fault, without sharing in the accountability and responsibility of the outcome. And, yet, if we succeed in a singular thought, a singular method, then we must - MUST - either give it away, or destroy it. Should this woman have let these children burn?!? Should she have let their facility be destroyed and put EVERYONE in danger, at best, or perish, at worst?!? I swear, there are days that I am ashamed to be a part of the human race. Or, at least the one in THIS country.
