This is where Im supposed to type Thank you all for the birthday wishes!... But thats not what I have to say. I appreciate all of that warmth and friendship that has somehow survived after all of these years. But, honestly, I want to offer an apology. If I had known, and realized then what I see now, Id have never left the U.S.S. Seattle. Id have gone down in the drink with her. In a funny way, I suppose I did. In another life, Id have been retiring in less than 6 months from the most formidable military force in human history. What a horrible thought: GMCM (SW/AW) DAY. Or worse yet CAPT (SW/AW) DAY. Seattle arriving! And then rapidly departing. I loved that ship like it was the Millenium Falcon. Or a Super-Star Destroyer. But for just a brief while, and in a way, it was mine. But it wasnt the metal, or the capabilities that I really treasured. It was the crew. No manner of interviews could ever replace the deck-time of those fine, fit, and capable warriors. I couldnt have chosen any better myself. I consider that time a god-send. Thank you, and god-bless, and god-speed, to every single one of you. May the wind be always at your back.
