This is why I talk about the need for strength training. Man - TopicsExpress

This is why I talk about the need for strength training. Man turns. Id be willing to bet the forces going through his board, legs, core, kinetic chain, are several times his bodyweight. Thats why in some circumstances, depending on the persons injury history, and caliber of surfing, nervous system strength development and power would benefit their surfing. You cant hold through a turn like that if youve got weak ass legs and core. Also take note of his leg alignment. Its out of ideal structural alignment. Surfing is dynamic movement always taking us out of ideal structural alignment. So you had better have some quality strength and flexibility to deal with producing force in a suboptimal alignment. That doesnt mean go train in all sorts of stupid functional movements with wobbly legs out of alignment..It means to go get strong with good technique, perfect alignment, improve your flexibility, improve your joint control, and go surf! Questions or comments..?? Post them below. theinertia/surf/man-turn-monday-kelly-slater-in-4k-and-slow-mo/
