This is why it might be a good idea for Bernie Sanders to run for president, regardless of his chances for a positive outcome. He must carefully weigh the importance of getting the real issues on the table with the possibility of losing his capacity to maintain public office. The American people have to know whats going on before they can be charged with making decisions that may determine the fate of the species. I believe Bernie may be able to perform a tremendous service to the American people by acting in such a way that will bring to light what’s really going on in the country. On the other hand, he must take into consideration whether he can realistically continue carrying out his job duties as one of the two senators from Vermont if he runs for president. Its a truly difficult decision for anyone to make. A token run for the White House, no matter how important it may be, is hard to justify since maintaining his legitimacy as a credible threat to the powers that be is vitally important to the fight for social and economic justice in America, not to mention the fight to save the planets ecosystems.
