This is why we have been for 3 years talking of dynamic fares. Either have a formula that captures fuel price and other input costs. When price goes up, fares go up automatically. All you need is the new, revised cards that display the new fares. Or even better according to me. Allow for fleets to be formed without harassment. Each fleet - run by cooperatives, companies - can have its own fare structure. Just make sure they publish it. They the consumers decide which auto provides better service. Price is only one component of what the consumer expects and experiences. There should be competition among these service providers. With smart phones and what not, these things are becoming easier and easier. Fares were revised after 7 or so years. It is only a matter of time these fares will be obsolete and we will be back to square zero!
