Caribbean Youth Environment Network - Guyana

This is your opportunity to get involved in the development of Guyana`s youth policy !!. CYP wants more young people to be involved in developing Guyana`s National Youth Policy. Young people across Guyana have been meeting in schools, community centres and youth friendly spaces to speak out about the real issues that they are facing today. Facilitated by the National Youth Steering Committee, teams have heard not only about the challenges of today’s youth such as drug abuse, teen pregnancy, lack of job opportunities and concerns about access to needed programmes and services but have also heard the exciting and creative plans of young people that are intended to make positive changes in their communities. “The consultation of young people is a vital part of the process,” says Tricia Teekah, Chairperson of the National Youth Steering Committee. “For too long people have been making decisions about youth policies without consulting the people the policies directly affect – young people.
