This isnt a story I would just like opinions. Where did the army lose the ribbon and award fight? I mean how is it if you look at world war 2 vets who slugged through 4 years of shit in Europe and the backwaters of the pacific come away with 3 maybe 4 ribbons if they are lucky, but these days privates have a obligatory 3 ribbons just for going through basic!!!! It was not uncommon to go through world war 2 and not get anything but these days s-1 wants a bronze star for doing their job and never leaving the wire in Afghanistan or seniors In the unit automatically pcs with a MSM regardless of what they did. ARCOMS are granted for just about anything like participating in NTC. The greatest generation soldiers went through Okinawa and Iwo jima a and did far more than todays people who whine they didnt get a AAM and what did they get nothing!!!! But a attaboy. Awards lose their significance when we feel we have to hand them out so soldiers dont feel left out or to pad a officers OER. Very seldom do awards mean anything anymore.
