This isnt the positive self-promoting shallow surface scum many are used to reading on FB, but this is truth: All self-help advice about how to be happy that includes indulging yourself, for yourself, because you deserve it, is a LIE. Its just vanity. We dont deserve happiness just because we exist. And we cant make ourselves happy. Any enjoyment of our own making that we may experience is fleeting. Vanity of vanities. We pursue one thing after another, thinking when we have this or that, or when we achieve this or that, or when we get there, then well be happy. But when we have it its not enough after all and we want something else. Always wanting something more and unhappy because we cant become happy. Its a bottomless pit that cant be filled. The closest we can come to filling it ourselves is when we put our focus on someone we love and away from ourselves. But oh so many relationships are destroyed because the other wont satisfy for long. There is only one source of happiness that never runs out, and it isnt our self. Happy are the people whose God is the Lord! Psalm 144:15b
