This just blew my mind. I dont remember ever hearing this before and I saw this band pretty regularly between 1978 and 1987. An amazingly compelling, complex arrangement of the Ellington standard by Bill Cunliffe, played expertly by all. One wild thing is that for such a modern arrangement, Buddy lays out a history of jazz drumming evolution throughout - swing, bop, jungle drumming, ragtime, and even some funk in his solo - and it all works. I was fortunate to see Buddy move the air and light up a room like nobodys business but I honestly think this is one of the best performances by Buddy and his band youll ever see!
