This just in..... Following a meeting with the Grand Massif yesterday, we regret to announce that due to a lack of snow across the Alps, the resort will not be opening this Saturday 20th December as planned. Like every other resort in the Haute Savoie and Savoie regions, the Grand Massif is doing everything possible to work with the exceptionally warm temperatures and lack of precipitation. Piste openings/closures will be revised on a daily basis and there is light snow currently this morning, and more forecast. If the conditions continue to improve as forecast, they are working hard to open as follows: • Samoëns – partial beginners zone only - Château/Pendants pistes – 4 lifts. • Morillon - very restricted débutant zone only – 1 lift • Flaine - 2 beginner pistes Balacha & Bissac – 3 lifts • Les Carroz – beginners slopes – 1 lift • Sixt - no pistes open Pre-purchased lift passes through ourselves will be refunded today. For those that have been pre-purchased directly with the Grand Massif lift company, please contact the company directly grand-massif If restricted areas do open, then passes are likely to be sold on a half-daily basis. Buses will be running between Morillon, Samoens and Sixt. However there will be no buses to Flaine as the few pistes open there are in poor condition and will simply not cope with an influx of skiers. The local Tourist Office is working hard to put in place other activities for the Christmas period, as well as those already scheduled. Well keep you up to date in the coming few days with alternative activities as we are putting together details of all other activities available and will email them over when completed. You may also wish to visit samoens For those with lessons with Zig Zag, they propose lessons in alternative resorts for those clients willing to move around, although conditions are currently also poor in Avoriaz and the Chamonix Valley. They will send out more information directly to their clients. We have also attached some alternative activity information from them. Currently we don t have news yet from the other ski schools, so if you have booked with them, we recommend you contact them directly. For those of you that have hired with another ski hire company, you will need to speak to them directly. We will keep you posted with any further updates, or you are able to see any updated information here directly from the lift company: winter.grand-massif/news/actu-noelEN2014 The team here at Alps Accommodation will do all they can to ensure your holiday is as enjoyable as possible. Samoens and Morillon are such wonderful resorts with a magical atmosphere during the Christmas as there are plenty of non-ski activities to still enjoy. We will keep in touch with updates as we have them. We are all doing the snow dance here, so please join us!
