This just in. Some of you will remember Asta, Im sure. Wisconsin Heights High School principal Asta Sepetys has been named the 2014 Wisconsin high school principal of the year. Sepetys is one of four educators to win principal of the year honors, announced Tuesday by Tony Evers, state superintendent of public instruction. Sepetys also is principal at Wisconsin Heights Middle School, the dual position created when grades 6 to 12 were combined in one building. The honorees also include Lisa Rettler, associate principal of the year at Asa Clark Middle School in the Pewaukee School District; Jessica Johnson, elementary school principal of the year at Dodgeland Elementary School; and Richard Appel, middle school principal of the year at Chilton Middle School. These school leaders exhibit the courage and passion Wisconsin educators need to ensure all students graduate college- and career-ready, Evers said in a news release. Jim Lynch, executive director for the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, said the honorees are the best in Wisconsin. Principal leadership impacts student learning in dramatic ways, and our principals of the year are great representatives of a noble profession, Lynch said. The principals of the year will be recognized at AWSA workshops and conferences during the upcoming school year.
