This just isnt right.... None of this would have happened if Michael Brown & Eric Garner had obeyed the orders of the law enforcement officer! Law enforcement officers are NOT your enemy unless you intentionally break the law. Then you FORCE them to do the job they were CALLED to do. Being a law enforcement officer is a calling...not a job. Why else would someone put their life on the line every time they put that badge on for a starting salary for many regions of less than $30,000 a year BEFORE taxes?? Not only do they get low pay...but they have to be the first on the scene of a terrible accident where bodies are scattered all over the interstate and still hold it together as they cover up the lifeless body of a child. They are out in the freezing cold, pouring down rain looking for a senior citizen who has wandered off only to find them dead in the woods...then they have the responsibility of going back to the family to give them the horrible news. They are the first responders to a call where an infant has stopped breathing and a hysterical single mom looks at them and says, Please dont let my baby die!! Then there are the times that they are patrolling the streets and pull over a vehicle whose toddler is standing up in the back seat...and the driver gets upset and tells him to mind his own business...even though this officer was potentially saving the life of this child. Not to mention the calls where someone has blown their brains out, or a husband has beaten his wife beyond recognition, or someone who couldnt swim decided to wade out in the water at the lake only to step in a hole and disappear under the water. And then we have the disrespectful folks who refuse to obey an officers orders when they are told to keep their hands where the officer can see them. A very simple order to follow. Because disobeying this order could be a decision for this officer as to whether or not he/she is going home after their shift or ending up in the hospital or the morgue. I do apologize for being a little...and I do mean a little graphic...because I could share stuff that my husband has seen or dealt with that would make you nauseous. I just wanted to give you a little taste of the life of a law enforcement officer. Please folks...let them know you appreciate them standing in the gap to protect you!
