This last adoption post is the most bittersweet for me, because this kitty has been in my care since April of 2012. Thats the longest Ive ever fostered a kitty, and in this case I actually fostered this kittys whole family including 3 foster kittens (8 kittens total)! Sweet little Freckles watched sadly as all of his siblings and even his mother were adopted and he was left behind. He was an adorable kitten and had a shining purrsonality at home, but was always terrified at adoption events, so no one ever really gave him a good look. It made me so sad! When I received and email about a month ago from a family with a sweet, shy daughter who reeeeeaaaaalllllly wanted a kitty of her own, I immediately thought to pair them up with Freckles! Ill admit that part of my good feeling about this family was because of their last name: Chance (how could this NOT work out?)! I wrote back and told them all about this sweet little boy who was always passed over, and they thought he sounded like exactly what they were looking for. I sent pictures and they just loved him! Mom (Elaine) wanted to be able to tell the daughter (Autumn) that she was getting a kitty for Christmas, but needed it to be a surprise, so I told her I could keep Freckles as long as they needed. The family was going to be travelling over the holidays, so the couldnt get him until after. So how did mom pull off the surprise? She had me send her some pics of Freckles, and she had one blown up life-size and wrapped it up and put it under the tree! That little girl was so surprised (they videoed the unveiling and I got to watch it tonight!) Christmas morning! Of course, she wanted to meet Freckles before they left town, so I had them come over the day after Christmas. It was love at first sight and all Autumn could do the whole trip was talk about Freckles! LOL As soon as they returned from their travels, we set up a time for me to bring him to their house (earlier this evening) so I could see where Freckles would spend his happily ever after. They are a lovely family and have promised to keep in touch and send pics any time I request them. I only cried a little watching the video from Christmas morning and managed to wait until I was safely in my car before the real boohooing took place. Im just so happy that Freckles finally has a furever family! (The first pic is of Freckles with his kitty family when they were first pulled from the shelter and rescued from euthanasia...he came a long way to find happiness!)
