This last spring we put on a conference on spiritual awakening, and we received a lot of positive feedback both from people who attended as well as people who watched the live broadcast. In light of this I thought some of you may want to check out an upcoming event Sunday night, September 28th titled “Within Reach—Discovering the Meaning of Life” that will be broadcast live. This event is the result of 120 interviews we’ve conducted throughout Europe and the USA. The event will be fast-paced, and include four fifteen-minute segments that exploration of how our interview subjects defined their primary meaning in life. Far less than 1% of the people we interviewed felt God, let alone Jesus, provided a basis from which a person could discover meaning in life. These four segments will be supported by clips from interviews, as well as a couple of musical performances and short film segments. The evening will concluded with worship and an invitation to find the essence of life’s meaning in God as revealed in Christ. This project was birthed within my own soul as I became convinced that reaching people in our current cultural context must begin first with understanding two things: why we and our Gospel are so widely misunderstood and how much do we misunderstand those we seek to reach for Christ. We will be sending out a short three-minute video that will convey a visual sense of what to expect. This event is a first step in sorting out the development of a three or four part documentary on the meaning of life.
