This link was posted by one of my followers as a comment. Thought I would post it here so its not missed. Thanks Cazz for bringing it to my attention. There is so much evidence pointing to the fact that these collars are not good equipment to train a dog with. As I said, they are designed for no other purpose than to create discomfort for the dog. Not only that they restrict natural head movement by making many dogs walk unnaturally with their head pulled down and to the side. Also IF the dog is walking on a loose lead, and decides to dart off to investigate or rush another dog, the amount of trauma transferred to the neck due to the sudden whiplash affect due to pulling the head to the side, is immense. PO (positive only) trainers that say they prefer to use these because they are humane, are indeed wrong. Using a halter type collar is not a positive experience for a dog. They also go against ALL the principles of loose leash walking, and that is not triggering opposition reflex in the dog when the dog is learning. Consider ALL the facts..Not just your own comfort. Think of your dogs well being and comfort on walks. Nothing can beat proper training for your dog, All these halter type collars are being designed for people that dont put the effort in to train their dog. As harsh as that sounds, its true.
