This little boy is an awesome example of Gods wonderful creation. He is such a joy to be around! When his mommy was pregnant with him, they had an ultrasound to find out if they were having a boy or a girl and at that appointment the tech saw a large hole in Ashers heart. They were referred to a cardiologist who did a fetal echo and they were told that their baby had several heart defects including a single ventricle defect (a large portion of his heart didnt form). They found out in the next few weeks that he would have to undergo three open heart surgeries to save his life. One at birth, one at around 6 months old and one at 2-5 years old. When Asher was born he was very stable and the doctors decided that they would be able to go home without having the first surgery and instead go back at six months to have the second surgery. Asher had his first open heart surgery March 13th at 4 months old. Asher is 9 months old now and is doing very well. We are trusting the Lord that he will continue to do well as we wait for His next surgery. In the heart community, people refer to children with heart defects as Heart Heroes. His parents faith in God is truly an inspiration to me and to many others. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues to overcome the obstacles that may come.
