This little kitten was born of a stray mum. Mum was being fed by the property owner because she had started to camp in his yard. Mum cat successfully hid her pregnancy. Or maybe he thought it was his care that had helped her to fill out! Mum cat gave birth to four kittens and hid them in the bullrushes or the equivalent to bullrushes :) and when they were around ten weeks old she took them in to the garage and waited for him to arrive to view his new family. Mum cat was indeed very proud but her standing in her new home became somewhat strained. I think there may have been a bit of shouting and disbelief. A family friend of his came to the rescue and arranged for the kittens to be captured. Then came a long period of care, learning, training, socialising and the hope that a well known vet surgery which takes in kittens would accept them for their adoption program. Veronica has done this under extremely difficult conditions and the first kitten was accepted but this little one failed her assessment because she got frightened. On return to the holding area she looked sweetly into Veronicas face and her expression seemed to say Im sorry Mum. Smokey, as she is called will have her vetwork done next week so expressions of interest can be made now. Smokey has two siblings left who are of a similar nature. They need patience, kindness and a fairly quiet environment so they may progress and become secure. They need the kind of person who has a need to nurture and this will definitely be an indoor home with a quiet area to adjust. Please pm any interest you may have regarding the adoption.
