This living lab is: • A network among academia, the rural communities and the local village administration to address the issues regarding rural sustainability. • An infrastructure for STI capacity building of the rural community. This infrastructure is to be built in two sections, one for the rural school children and the other for the barely literate local community. A Research methodology for open innovation aiming to generate answers for when, how, why and how much both for top down and bottom up open innovation initiatives. Other than researchers, the knowledge generated can be of interest to businesses eyeing for the emerging markets / base of pyramid community. • An Innovation ecosystem constituting an experiential environment, where users are actively involved in designing and experiencing the future products/ services to be used by them. Acts as an interface for the technological platforms and user communities to come to the forefront.
