This looks easy compared to my first day at Basic Training! I still remember getting off the bus and being yelled at only to later find out, at the end of Basic, that the Drill Sgt.s all had a bet going on to see just how many new Privates they could make cry getting off the bus. I was NOT one of those new Privates crying but then again, I was not 18 going into the Army like most Soldiers were, I was 28 when I left for Basic at Fort Jackson, S.C. on 02 September 2009. :-). I had a lot more maturity than most of these Soldiers not just because of my age but my overall experience in life and it definitely showed on a lot of angles when I got there. I kept my mouth shut and done what I was told and I survived the next 15 weeks (our cycle was there an extra 2 weeks, held at reception, for the DSs leave I later found out from my Platoon SGT at FT. Hood that was a DS at FT. Jackson in the sister Batalion beside of mine and they only had once a year....small world) Ah,The good ole days.... :-)
