This man was one of the greatest artists of any art form of my generation. He truly was a special talent. His music spoke of the pain and hardship of the people at the bottom in a way that very few were able to capture. As actor he was terrifying in his debut role as Roland Bishop in the cult classic Juice, tender as Lucky in Poetic Justice, and he was only beginning to scratch the surface of his talent as an Actor. I truly believe he would have won oscar had his acting career continued to develop. He was also a real person who created art that was a true reflection of his life. If there was a Marvin Gaye of my generation his name was Tupac Shakur. Like Marvin Gaye, Tupac was taken from us way too soon, and like Marvin his legacy will have the same relevance as it did when he was alive. Tupac would have been 43 years old today had he lived. John Singleton is currently filming a movie about his life to released in theaters next year, and I will be right there when it opens for there is so much we dont know about him. I often wonder what kind art he would create if he were still alive. There will never be another Tupac Shakur just like there will never be another Marvin Gaye or Michael Jackson.
