This may be an inappropriate topic to write about as we start a new year, but the issue this will pursue has implications relevant to our well-being in life and death situations. Lessons can be gleaned from my family’s experience, for others to be conscious of and careful about, as they will negotiate the year 2015 given similar situations. The year 2014 brought to my family both joys and sorrows. Although my own parents had survived the various health problems they have, they are more vulnerable now to ailments compared before because of old age. I also lost my father-in-law at the age of 87 years old. He had been bedridden for more than a year after he succumbed to cardiac arrest.
