This may be an unpopular thought, but I have always wondered why most public schools operate on an 8 to 3 schedule around the year when most people work an 8 to 5 schedule. Could students handle an extra 2 hours a day as a trade off for fewer days of going to school? Would an 8 to 5 school day help more parents be able to pick up their kids from school without having to find after school daycare as well as reducing the need/cost for school bus operation? Im sure there are many reasons why an 8 to 5 schedule would not work for some. Im curious to hear your thoughts.
