This may be the biggest social-media no-no for a business, but I just have to post a shout-out to the customer who left 15 minutes BEFORE I even open this morning, RANTING and RAVING about how unhelpful I am and how shes going to spread the word because - get this - she was in the driveway as I returned from my morning walk & errands (a full 15 mins to spare BEFORE opening time) and with an injured dog and a bag of groceries in my arms, wanting me to drop everything BEFORE hours to help her with a knitting project because, and I quote, Im already over an hour late for a meeting and I cant wait (BTW...the meeting is a good 1/2 hour from here, so why, her boss might wonder did she even stop at a knitting store?). Maybe that just shows the lack of respect this person has for anyone but herself? I told her I would do my best to open early but I had to have a minute to put my groceries down and get Chloe, who wasnt even touching her paw to the ground - off the street and in the store. But she literally had her knitting out in the parking lot and didnt even want to give me that minute - she was so late, after all- and instead went into a verbal attack about how unhelpful I am. So yes, I turned my back on her and walked away. In what planet is it acceptable behavior to literally accost a shop owner, well in advance of opening and when they clearly had their hands full, and start yelling at them and threatening them about spreading how awful they/their store is because they couldnt drop everything instantly to help with a knitting question? I am happy to help customers solve their knitting questions and to help customers find the right yarn for their project, fiber for their felting and wheel for their spinning, but not under circumstances like this morning. Knitting, felting and spinning are supposed to bring joy and beauty to our lives, not angst and nastiness. I love my knitting, but honestly if it brought out the kind of nastiness this woman was harboring, Id give it up.
