This may seem like a cute commercial at surface but constant digs in popular culture over the past 20+ years (Kingpin) have changed the perception of bowling throughout America. It wasnt that long ago that bowling was one of the most popular sports in this country and each type of media like this knocks us back another rung on corporate Americas radar and makes it exceedingly difficult for us to gain and maintain corporate sponsors. Which is one of the main reasons why we are losing events like the US Open. I urge us to boycott ANY product that puts bowling in a negative light. We do not deserve this unfair treatment and the fact that advertisers find bowling to be an easy target is personally insulting. There are still millions of bowlers in the country but we all must make a conscious effort to not allow these digs just roll off our back because we are used to it. Kids do not deserve to be uncool because they choose to bowl. As former PBA Commissioner Steve Miller told us in my first player meeting my rookie year.
