This may stimulate your thinking a little bit: Concordia - TopicsExpress

This may stimulate your thinking a little bit: Concordia Theological Quarterly, a continuation of The Springfielder, is a theological journal of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, published for its ministerium by the faculty of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana. ctsfw.edu/ctq/ Philip Cary, an Anglican theologist, clergy was invited to present a paper and it was published at the CTQ in 2007 on the subject of SOLA FIDE which meant that an Anglican is speaking on the critique of Lutheran theology at the Lutheran Church-Missori Synod, Concordia Theological Seminary, which was akin to a friendly dialogue by an outsider in home turf. And yet, Carys paper was accepted for publication, which had tot be a fair commentary on the subject matter. In his paper, he proposes that Lutheran theology is very un-Protestant as it holds sacraments firmly in its theology in contrast to other Reformed traditions of Calvinism, Zwinglism etc which is similar to the Anglican sacrament tradition. The issue of the perseverance of the saints is also discussed which is most enlightening in an exciting new perspective. It is an easy paper to read which I would recommend to your perusal: Philip Cary: Sola Fide; Luther and Calvin, CTQ71(2007) 265-281 ctsfw.net/media/pdfs/carysolafide.pdf Better to read it first hand than to read my second hand highlights.
