This message I am sharing is from an old student and friend who trained with me long ago in my Bermuda dojo. He responded to a post that I put on my page and I love his message. It is more of a personal nature, however, it is so well suited for everyone to learn. I like the story of the Hummingbird who, in a forest fire, flew repeatedly to a stream and carried a drop of water back to put on the huge fire. His friends asked why would he do such a useless thing and commented that he could never make a difference. The hummingbird replied ... I can only do the best that I can. We each travel our own unique paths, my amazing brother ... we each carry our own drop of water .... On one far side of the coin, the job would seem to be far too great but the other far side is the temptation of apathy ......... the middle road would seem to be the path of harmony. To me, the Warriors Heart is tempered by an Old Code or a Knights Code ... We shall not give up ... We shall always offer a helping hand ... We shall always let out heart be our guide ... We will listen well to the counsel of our ancestors and elders but will not fear the direction of our own feet ... We shall earn our Black Belt by facing our greatest challenge with dedication and courage and, finally, learn who and what we really are ... and, from there, begin our greatest adventure. Your presence and words have often been the en-light-ening gift which seems to arrive at the perfect time .... Thank you Kevin - thank you and thank you for also being a guiding light in times that appear to be dark. Everyone enjoy and stay positive.
