This message is a plea from the mother of the Muslim sister, who was a victim of the Islamophobic attack that occurred on Boundary Road in Walthamstow a few days ago. Please take heed of what she has said. This is your sisters reputation and honour on the line. Assalaamalaikum, my dear respected brothers/sisters. I am the mother of the unfortunate girl who was attacked last Friday and of whom a picture has been circulating on various social media sites. I have a humble request for all of you, please please, if any of you have been sent her picture or have it, please for the sake of Allah and her self respect remove/delete it. This picture was sent without my knowledge and it deeply saddens me to think that people are viewing and spreading her pictures without caring for the lasting impact it will have on her and our family; for those who know us will know we are a private family. The source of how the photo was leaked has been found, but as you all know once an image is out on social network sites it spreads like fire. Please let me be clear that these photos were taken by police as evidence of her injuries and not selfies. As a result of the attack, my daughter is frightened to leave the house and embarrassed due to the marks on her face. She also refuses to socialise outside until these are healed. Now knowing that an image of her has been released for everybody to view, including non-mahrams, it is adding insult to injury. Please, you must have sisters so you will understand how this can harm and even destroy their reputation. Please forward this message to all that you know so people are made aware of this. Finally for those who are taking time to patrol the streets, I have another request, please do not go out with the intention to cause trouble or harm another human, for this is not a part of Islam or teachings of our beloved Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). I know that my words will reach you all. I thank you all for your well wishes and request your duas. Thank you JazakAllahu Khairan.
