This might seem like an esoteric post but it is relevant especially as people in our generation come out of medical school and law school with huge amounts of debt: If you have any friends who are attorneys or in law school PLEASE advise them NOT to use FindLaw (Thomson Reuters) for their website needs (and no Im not recommending myself as their developer, Im already swamped with work). FindLaw is a very large and successful firm that charges ridiculous amounts to create websites for their clients. They promise to give the attorneys plenty of content for their websites in the promise that it will help their search engine results but it does not help and in fact can badly damage their domain name and IP address. The content they give you is not original and in fact has also been given to dozens, if not hundreds, of other attorneys just like you. Thats bad enough but compound that with the fact that Google and other search engines will view YOUR site as having engaged in PLAGIARISM... something that causes the website to be badly penalized within search engine results. If you have a friend who is a lawyer please mention this to them if they have a website or are interested in acquiring one soon... it just may be the difference between being at the top of search results vs. the bottom. Dont believe me? Check out the screenshot of how two separate online plagiarism checkers graded the content of one of my recent clients received from them (that they actually marketed to lawyers as a perk of using their service!)
