This month is always so hard for me. A special little angel should be here with us, about to celebrate her 4th birthday. She was stolen from us by a horrible disease that I knew existed, but had no idea how many strains, bacterial and viral, that can effect anyone, any age. I truly believed meningitis was just something that could never affect me or someone I love. 12 short hours is all it took to rob us of one precious little girl, almost completely tearing my family apart. We battled through the storm, were blessed with a rainbow and still press on in her fight against this incredibly time sensitive disease. March 24th, our Sophie would have been celebrating her 4th birthday, instead we honour her by spreading meningitis awareness and wearing pink. Please wear pink on March 24th in honour of our Sophie and please, please take the time to educate yourselves, your loved ones, even complete strangers on the signs and symptoms of Meninigitis, Meningococcal disease and Septicaemia.
