This morning I am not sharing a captioned compilation or garland of ragas but an experience. What better way of cleansing your mind early morning of the clutter of earlier day’s stress than hear a soulful devotional? Or still better view and hear. Our music is enriched with raagas that have the therapeutic healing power to raise our mind to raise from confusion to clarity and depression to delight. These are ragas that you have no need to know by names. What’s in a name when it fills you with peace and joy? Ahir Bhairav is one such raga that clears the clouds sitting on your brow and Revathi is the other that guides you close to divinity and that is why this raga is more close to the Vedic chants. I would like to share the two bhajans ther first in Ahir Bhairav and the second in Revathi. Amazingly rendered by Thrissur Brothers and accompanied on Mridangam by their father who sans emotion on face could come alive so well with fluttering fingers. The brothers innovative, improvising and sing in perfect unison and occasionally take off on a flight of fantasy while the other provides the harmony and both as the song ends transport us to another plane with their soul filling chanting. Blessed are we to hear the Trissu Trio , the rare combo of proud father and blessed sons. I relish the morning cleanser and hope you do. Have a great day.
