This morning I decided I had had enough of our one sink being clogged so I asked our manager Kaila if we could just throw some Drano or Liquid Plumber in and try to fix it. She sent me off to the hardware store for supplies. Overwhelmed by the zillions of bottles which all claimed to be the best, I approached the salesman for help. We have a badly clogged drain and need something to fix it. What do you recommend? Oh so you dont want to.....(some random plumbing term I am unfamiliar with because I am not a plumber!) it? You just want some magic potion to unclog it? I gave him by biggest smile and said Precisely! Then I told him it was a bad clog and might have a few (million) coffee grinds in there. He marched me over and pointed out a few things then asked me if we had (again random plumbing term) pipes. I said ummm. He said Probably. are your pipes black? I thought fast and said ummmmm maybe. I think so. He said here use this. So I politely smiled and thanked him. Bought the magic potion and zipped back to Tims. Since we all watched the safety in the workplace videos and got our certificates, we carefully dressed me and read the instructions. Wearing safety goggles over my glasses, gloves, a paper mask over my nose and mouth and a plastic vest of some sort I attacked the sink. (Memo to self - giggling makes it hard for Kaila to tie it on me.) After bailing out the sink, magic potion was poured in and I watched the clog for fifteen minutes. Progress was painfully slow. Finally I sent someone for a plunger to speed the process and suddenly the sink did a beautiful burp and emptied!! I ran water into it and THE WATER WENT DOWN THE DRAIN!!! Then a good scrub and our sink is fixed! The store owner came in and asked from the other end of the counter Why is Sue dressed like Homer Simpson? When I went back to strip off my safety gear he said Hi Homer. I feel so proud that I unclogged a drain!
