This morning I had the pleasure of embarrassing myself in front of a group of about 16-20 professionals as I presented my personal story and ended up in tears in front of the entire room! Actually it was pretty awesome all in all. You see I attended a Strategic Storytelling Workshop for Nonprofits at Marathon. We learned to use strategic storytelling to engage our target audience and then we had the chance to write and present our own story. So I told my story of the horrible fall fest experience and how it pushed me to create my own sensory friendly fall fest as well as Friends of BVS. The story was so personal that I ended up in tears and completely exposed my feelings which eventually pushed me to do what I do today, Then I got to tell them how amazing our first fall Fest was and why I think it was important to our community. It was a powerful experience for me. The support and feedback I got from the workshop audience was amazing. I am so glad I attended today. They really made me feel that I am on the right path. :) Special thanks to Tamera Rooney for connecting me with this workshop event.
