This morning I have had an experience I havent had in a while. I have tuned my cello. The cello has many plus points. Ive always enjoyed playing it although never practised as much as I should. But it also has some downsides (This for instance! Pachelbel Rant). This morning I have got mine out of its case for the first time in a while and by some miracle all the strings are intact. But why oh why does tuning it need to be some sort of nerve-wracking exercise that involves precise, yet huge, amounts of pressure, nerves of steel and the ever present danger of having your eye taken out by a broken string whipping past!
