This morning I posted about getting up early to teach an exercise format called Insanity. Most of you know what that is from either doing it yourself, or having seen commercials on TV for it in the past. I have been teaching this format of exercise for a long time and it ranks at the top of my favorite, and yet it is truly the most difficult exercise to complete. The exercise last for nearly an hour, and there are progressively challenging moves that test every part of the body. There are only brief periods of rest, so the body gets fatigued quickly. Pushing through the exercise to completion is truly a mental effort as much as a physical one. One might ask, why do you do that to yourself? Well, I believe I have come to learn that this type of routine not only has got me in the very best shape of my life, but has taught me, by example, the benefits of perserverence through continued trials. For most of us, life is somewhat similar - constant challenges, tests, setbacks, difficulties, with brief periods of rest. Sometimes we are on the brink of giving up, but we find the courage and strength to muster through, and by doing so, develop stronger muscles and resiliency for future challenges. Living a FIERCE life isnt about aggression or attacking things when they come, scaring people away in the process. It IS about having focus, determination and resolve, that no matter the trial, no matter the test, I will overcome the obstacle in front of me. Being FIERCE isnt always popular, in fact, it can be a choice to stand up for your values and your beleifs in the face of ridicule and opposition. Thats where the courage to do what you need to do comes from within based on knowing what you want to accomplish. How will you respond to a challenge? I hope you meet it head on in a FIERCE way. I attach here a sample of one of the workout moves I have done which when completely exhausted, gets really difficult, but requires a lot of focus to gut your way through.
