This morning I received a phone call from Debbie Singleton. She is an administrator with housing and urban planning. She told me that they are cooperating with the taxpayers requests to see copies of the studies regarding the Fairground redevelopment and that they will be releasing that information to The Commercial Appeal. She expressed that there have been no specific plans approved for the TDZ. She said they are in the due diligence stage. I expressed my concern that the citizens be heard, not just the developers. I also shared that the Mid South Coliseum should be repurposed because of its cultural, historical, and artistic significance to our community. I told her that if they are looking to make the Fairgrounds a destination site for tourism and revenue that it is critical that they not demolish the Mid South Coliseum since it is an important part of our citys story.
