This morning I was driving back through the forest, having just walked the last three dogs when a large ginger cat ran across the road. I slowed right down to see where it went and through the trees saw what I took to be a dog lying under one of the trees. I had to drive on to park in a safe place as the road is a very narrow green road. Then went back to where I thought I had seen the dog. The part of the forest closest to the road had recently been felled and was very hazardous to walk through and also very boggy. So, as I was wearing wellies (seldom wear anything else) I set off in search of the dog. I was not sure exactly where I had seen this dog but wanted to establish if it was dead or alive. I had no credit left on my phone so hoped I did not fall in a ditch and break anything. Anyway, after crunching back and forth amongst the branches and pulling my feet out of squelching mud and jumping ditches what did I discover. The dog was actually a large white boulder with patches of brown lichen. Had I not investigated I would have carried on worrying and wondering so it was a worthwhile exercise!
