This morning I was fiddling around with iTunes, loading up a couple of new songs to listen to as I work, and I decided that I might as well make sure that all of my holiday CDs have been loaded to my Christmas playlist. As I went through the list, I found a CD that was sent to me by Janet. (Glenn Miller In the Christmas Mood 1 and 2 which is so swell and so finger snappingly toe tappingly excellent and makes me feel so suave every time I listen to it. Between this CD and the Rat Pack Christmas CD I have everything I need to get me in the holiday spirit. ) Anyway. I was thinking about how totally cool it is that the Internet lets us make friends all over the world. Friends who share our habit of listening to Christmas music way before Christmas, friends who share our weird sense of humor, friends who share our love of quilting (or whatever hobby it is that we are completely obsessed with), friends that live thousands of miles away even though we wish they lived right next door. We might never meet them face to face but that doesnt stop us from laughing with them, crying with them, cheering them on to victory, waiting for their grandbabies with them, biting our nails with them as they wait for test results, or just sharing a cup of coffee while we enjoy a morning email chat with them. People complain about Facebook and the Internet all the time, but I am so unendingly grateful for the many friends that this technology has brought my way. I am grateful for the laughs, the tears, the stories, the music, the quilts, the tea, the life. I am grateful for you, my friends.
