This morning I was outraged to learn that some person or persons vandalized a nativity scene in front of Sacred Hearts parish and replaced the baby Jesus with the head of a pig. I just attened a press conference at the police station to discuss this horrible incident. We are all outraged by this. In my statement I said: This act does not represent Haverhill. Haverhill is represented by the thousands of people who attended church or synogogue this weekend, not by the few sad people who committed this crime. I also appealed to the public for help. Sadly, some animal was slaughtered to commit this crime. If you know of a missing animal, or saw something suspicious in the early hours of Christmas morning, please call the police. We will get to the bottom of this. Part of the investigation will be determine if this was a hate crime and, if it was, it will be prosecuted as such.
