This morning I was searching around on Youtube, looking for a recording of an old Aerosmith song Bright Light Fright. Always loved the song, even more so because it was one that Joe Perry did the vocals, anything by Joe is cool. Anyway during the search I ran across a Howard Stern episode from his Sirius Radio show a few years ago that Steven Tyler was his guest. Its an hour long interview, they discussed many topics including the drug history, the music, the inhouse arguing, Stevens appearing on Idol, as well as his physical health over the years. One of those items was Tylers finding out her had Hepititus-C, and his treatment for it. For many of you, you know that I was hit by a drunk driver back in 1988. Probably even fewer of you know that ten years later I found out that I too had the Hep-C virus. I got it from the blood transfusions while I was at the hospital in 1988. Testing for Hep-C didnt start until 1992. So in 1999 I was treated for it. It is a long process, which takes the better part of a year. During that time the medication makes you feel like hell. However, after that time, like Mr.Tyler, I was successfully cured of the virus. I say this today because there are no clear warning signs of this virus, there are no symptoms. The only reason I knew is because Betsy saw a story about it on 20/20 and suggested I get tested. Luckily I had very minimal liver damage when we found this out. Im posting this today so that if any of you have been in my position, or know anyone that is, please tell them to get tested before its too late. Peace!
