This morning I woke up with a bit of a stomach situation. After a few hours of resolving said situation my African housemate Frieda walked into the room I sleep in and saw me sprawled across my bed feet sticking out from underneath my holey mosquito net. Looking very concerned Frieda said, “Brin you are sick.” I said, “yes… I think I ate…” “I know what is wrong,” Frieda interjected, “You were cold last night.” I smiled, “But Frieda, it was 30° Celsius (85F°) last ni....” “Muzungu’s (foreigner’s) are stubborn. So tonight you will sleep under this.” And handed me a thick polyester fleece blanket resembling the size and texture of something used by Russian troops in World War II, with a loud African floral print. Friends and family—I am using this blanket tonight. Food poisoning, Malaria, Typhoid, & all other possible alignments GOT NOTHIN’ ON ME!! Who needs an invisibility cloak when they can have this rockin’ African blanket? #unstoppable
