This morning, Im having this huge epiphany about mothers. As I focus on getting my son ready for the school year, I started out thinking about how challenging it is being a single mother sometimes doing everything by myself and creating a good life for my kids with little to do that with. But then another thought took over. Im a freaking BAD ASS and so is every other mother! Heres what I feel like sharing with you all today: You will NEVER meet a more resourceful person than a woman who can turn random cans from the pantry and leftovers into a gourmet meal. Youll never meet a more magical person than a woman who can turn her kids boring day into an amusement park in their own living room. Youll never meet a stronger person than a woman who is beyond tired at the end of the day but still keeps her energy up long enough to tuck her kids in and discuss their dreams. Youll never meet a more consistent person than a woman who folds laundry day in and day out day in day out day in day out and every FREAKING DAY! Youll never meet a more committed person than a woman who gladly puts her kids first and considers their needs before her own. Youll never know conflict like a woman who pushes her kids to be independent and accountable when she really wants to hold them on her lap and make it better forever. Youll never know heart wrenching pain like watching a mother let her kids grow up and move on when her instincts still crave to baby them.Youll never know a person who can break through their fears and push themselves like a woman who fiercely goes into the dark when she hears a noise to protect her kids, tends to them when they are sick or hurt, cleans up puke, and shit, and after their pets and friends. The kind of responsibilities, requirements, dedication, and life training that is developed in being a mother are priceless and cannot be cultivated in any other profession. These are qualities that if put into office, government, military, or any other CEO position would CHANGE THE WORLD! But...that is not where the world changes, is it. Its in the homes of every family, its in the nice little jobs that we work, the frequent places we bless, its from the heart of this world that the qualities of mothers are needed because as we step into our powerful roles more and more, we carve out the new society that is built on the strength of mothers who GET SHIT DONE even when we dont feel like it, even we we are not appreciated or supported, even when we are scared, depressed, lonely, heartbroken, and beaten down. Who the hell has that kind of strength but a mother?!? So as I sit here in my cleaning clothes, about to embark on organizing my house and preparing my kids for the upcoming year, I raise my coffee mug to you other single mommys out there who are doing an AMAZING job at keeping this world beautiful, sane, safe, nurtured, and LOVED! I stand next to you with my laundry basket that is ever flowing with dirty kid clothes! I walk by your side to jobs you dont necessarily love in order to provide. I cry with you in frustration, and laugh with you because through it all, we know we wouldnt ever change a thing! I send you strength and blessings, we may not be perfect all of the time, we mess up and we make mistakes, but we are PRICELESS! Fist pump!
