This morning Jesse told me: "Saturday; school none".. this is a grammatically correct ASL sentence. (some people, unaware of syntax and grammar, would say it is bad English, but it is not English.. to properly interpret this sentence from ASL to English, the interpreter would say: "Today is Saturday, there is no school today")... my point is, that was THREE signs... not merely one as is usual for Jesse. We are already starting to see language improvement, and he is only going once or twice a week as I am able to bring him. What will happen when he goes 5 days a week?? He will still have autism, but he might be able to express himself far more, which is a VERY good thing!! I (we) am SO eager for the communication expert (Deaf version of speech therapist) to work with Jesse. I think she will be my new hero!
